A top-level discussion of the interplay between the increasing number of product-based environmental regulations and the tensions these requirements can potentially generate between Chinese suppliers and/or manufacturers, on the one hand, and U.S. distributors and retailers on the other. The discussion will focus particularly on product risks and risk-reduction strategies in the consumer marketplace.
About the Speaker
J.C. Walker, Keller and Heckman, advises industrial and trade association clients on a broad range of environmental matters, including compliance with U.S. and international requirements governing the safe use and disposal of chemical and hazardous substances. Focusing on the interplay between business processes and regulatory requirements, he counsels clients on risk management and product safety matters for both industrial and consumer products, as well as on compliance with Consumer Product Safety Commission requirements. Mr.. Walker works closely with clients to address the increasing array of state consumer product requirements, with special emphasis on products containing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and mercury.
